Our founder and CEO, Joi Chevalier, was recently selected as a 2023 Woman of Purpose, sponsored by Yeti, in Les Dames d’Escoffier International, the leading international organization for women in food, beverage, and hospitality. The Woman of Purpose Award recognizes an exceptional Dame who’s made an impact locally or globally, incorporating global sustainability, food justice, and public health in her work. This is an incredible group of women to be alongside, including this year’s winner, Nina Mukerjee Furstenau.
The Woman of Purpose is a visionary Dame who’s made strides toward improving our food system. To be included within the ecosystem of this amazing organization is an honor. We couldn’t be happier for Joi. To be considered a Dame alongside these amazing women doing impactful work by restructuring our food ecosystems is no small victory, but something to be proud of explicitly.
This is Joi’s second recognition as a Woman of Purpose – she was nominated by her LDEI Austin Chapter in 2021, and was honored with the eventual 2021 recipient, Tallu Schuyler Quinn. Additionally, Joi and The Cook’s Nook was awarded a Woman of Purpose Grant in 2022 for a capital project.
As part of the LDEI Woman of Purpose programming, the leaders mentor, the goal is to inspire, and help show someone interested in learning the ropes on how to impact the world through food, beverage, and hospitality. This collection of women will help by hosting webinars and panel discussions to help others learn and grow.
